Thus Spake the Divine

Advaita or Dvaita – All at Lotus Feet of
Parashakti

Therefore, let us do what is possible at the mind level. We will look at this universe as something different and separate. When we realize the orderliness in its functioning, we get to know that some Super Power has created it and is managing it. Let us for now keep away from the concept of Maya, which engages in creation and sustenance. Let us assume the following:

“There is a great power that is managing the affairs of this universe; ‘It’ is different from us; we, the human beings, are small and petty beings with limited capabilities; ‘It’ is omnipotent; we have insignificant intelligence; ‘It’ is omnipresent and omniscient.

Why assume, in our current state of affairs, that ‘It’ appears crystal clear? Let us also keep away from the Siddhanta of Advaita, which says there is nothing else other than that Supreme Power. Let us stop with the understanding that though ‘It’ is different from us, ‘It’ is aware of everything about us as also our sorrows and problems.

Parashakti has created all life forces in this universe, commencing from a fl y to an elephant, and is protecting them by giving them the required level of intelligence and food. Thus, Parashakti will definitely be knowledgeable about the sorrows of all life forces. ‘It’ not only remains an ocean of Jnyana, ‘It’ also remains an ocean of compassion. If we have love and compassion towards something, that love must have emerged only from that Parashakti, which is the source for everything. Let us keep praying to such an ocean of compassion pleading: ‘Oh! Why am I lacking in fullness? Make me full without any flaws and defi ciencies’. If we continue to pray persistently, the very Parashakti or Paramatma Himself will confer on us the fullness or realisation of Advaita.”

But why pray to Paramatma or Parashakti, the ocean of compassion, who knows all our sorrows and who resolves all our problems? We don’t even need to plead for conferment of Advaita or Jnyana on us. It is just enough if we continue to espouse Bhakti towards God, instead of lamenting and pleading for something or the other. When we think that there exists Paramatma, who is absolutely calm, composed and with equipoise, and remains an ocean of compassion, doesn’t that feeling itself give us immense happiness? Therefore, meditate on Him / Her with such a great feeling and feel happy about it. Don’t ask God for material things and spoil this beautiful feeling. Let Him give us what He thinks we are worthy of!

So, what do we do now? There are Karmas ordained by Vedas on all of us. Let us keep performing those Karmas continuously and without fail. All Karmas are nothing but actions. Let us engage in Karmas as they are His directives to us. Is the mind not reined in? Don’t worry. Instead of filling our minds with rubbish thoughts, let us keep meditating on the grace and Anugraha of Parashakti. Let us immerse ourselves in Her boundless beauty and elegance. If we can perform Bhakti, which has no expectations at all, that itself will give fulfi lment to our heart.

There is something known as a state of vacuum, where the “mind” stops existing. That is the one, which remains beyond our reach, isn’t it?! Why should we seek such a state and then lament on not getting that? Let that state of fulfilment come on its own. Let us remain in the state in which Paramatma has kept us at this point in time. Let us just keep doing Karmas and perform Bhakti as ordained under Vedas. That will be sufficient. If we are capable of doing that, then we don’t need anything else. We will stop cribbing or lamenting about things that we only seemingly want.

Let us continue carrying out our Karmas and espouse Bhakti on Paramatma selflessly without looking for any rewards and returns. If we do so, He himself will get appeased by our actions and confer on us the Advaita Moksha and absorb us within Him. That onus is on Him and we have nothing to do in this regard. There is absolutely no use of engaging in some act, which is beyond our capability. What we know in this current state is only that it is “He” who has made us “different” from Him. Must we remain in this state of “separateness from Him” of our own accord? Not at all ! It is He who has scripted such a great drama; as if He has unchained us all from Him and let us loose. If that is the case, let it be. Even in this state of affairs, the only thing that we can do is just continue to meditate on Him with unidirectional Bhakti, keep extending our Bhakti towards Him and thereby immerse into Him completely. Such blissful feeling itself is enough for us!
